About the Speaker...

I have a love of history and qualified as a history teacher in the 1970’s. I spent many years working in community development and education for local authorities, Oxfam, Save the Children Fund and other smaller community organisations. I have a MA Degree in Architectural History and set up ‘Breathing Life into History’ in 2004.

About his talks...

My talks, tours and courses are an eclectic mix of social and cultural history, with Victorian and early 20th century British history taking precedence. Art history and gardens feature strongly as do personal places of interest-the Derbyshire Dales, Staffordshire Moorlands, the East End of London and Norway.

There are over forty talks on offer covering aspects of architecture, art, biographies, gardening, local history, literary heritage and social history. In December 2019, I presented my 900th talk.
