About Jason Middleton PJ (Dip) ...

For the last seventeen years I have had a highly rewarding career in the jewellery industry working as an International gemstone buyer for both a respected jewellery company as well as my own company supplying the jewellery market with loose gemstones as well as finished jewellery specialising in pearls and semi-precious stones. I have and continue to travel extensively to source these items internationally. Along side this career, I have undertaken talks as a professional speaker on the fascinating subject of Gemstones and Jewellery to groups including Probus, Luncheon, U3A and WI.

About his talks...

My talks focus on the fascinating world of gemstones. The talks include a spectacular power point display so that the audience can fully appreciate the subject matter. I am passionate about the jewellery industry and by running my own company find myself in the fortunate position of being on the front line of this industry and what it can teach me. My main aim is to make the talks informative and fun and really engage the audience by showing examples of both host rock and cut/polished gemstones.
I provide all necessary equipment,Ipad, laptop projector, screen and power leads but if the venue has a large screen in situ this is always appreciated.

Fee:

Each talk has  a duration of 60 minutes (which can be tailored) with PowerPoint presentation and examples of beautiful gemstones to view. The standard fee for each talk is £65 and plus a traveling fee. To present a talk I would require a white screen or white wall, two tables and power supply.
Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk.

Since I travel the UK extensively for my own company I can attend at short notice or fill in on a cancellation if required.

Talk 1.   Pearl – A famous Gem

This is the first in the series of my talks and as the title suggests looks at one of the most desirable gemstones, the Pearl. The talk focus is on what a pearl is, what produces them and where. The different types of Pearls from fisheries around the world. A fascinating history line from early civilisations to pearls found in jewellery today. Famous pearls and famous jewellery and much more. The talk duration is 60 minutes but can be tailored to suit.Examples of the Pearl types and their associated molluscs are passed to the audience to touch and view. I always welcome questions from the audience.

Talk 2.   An introduction to Gemstones

This is the second in the series of my talks and as the title suggests we venture into the fascinating world of gemstones. The talk focus is on gemstone families and their basic properties.Where and how gemstones are mined, cut and fashioned. Birthstones, famous gemstones and an interesting history line and what to look for in jewellery and much more. The talk duration is 60 minutes but can be tailored to suit. Examples of the gemstone both host rock and faceted types and are passed to the audience to touch and view. I always welcome questions from the audience.

Talk 3. Diamond, Gemstone and Distinction

In this talk we look into the fascinating and most famous gemstone Diamond. Includes diamond quality, mining, famous diamonds, what to look for, and an extensive history line.I always welcome questions from the audience.

Talk 4. The History of Jewellery

Here we look at the role Jewellery has played from the earliest civilisations to the modern day. Periods such as the Renaissance, Victorian Period, Art Deco, Art Nouveau to Jewellery on line today. Absolutely fascinating. I always welcome questions from the audience.

A fascinating talk covering all aspects of what to consider when one purchases or sells items of jewellery. Recommendations and what to look for.

Gemstones and Jewellery of the rich and famous

This New talk is now available and looks at celebrated Gemstones and Jewellery of the highest degree. Includes British and other European Royal jewellery, jewellery purchased at the famous international auctions and Jewellery owned by celebrities.
