Simon Waterfield

Location: Beckenham, Kent
About The Speaker...

I am a researcher, writer and performer of short stories.
Most of those are of a historical nature.
After a brush with Prostate Cancer I have created two talks around that subject, as well as written a book on the subject.
I have been doing this for more than 10 years.
I give my talks to WIs, U3As, Probus, and many other clubs. I perform them in museums, historical re-enactment events all over the country, and in all manner of locations from tents, underneath trees, in historic buildings, to village halls and theatres.

About Their Talks...

They are not lectures.
For the historical talks you meet the subject in period clothes with some appropriate show and tell items who tell their own story in the first person.
I need no equipment at the venue other than perhaps a small table.
If I am required to use a mic I would prefer a hands free mic.

Fee:

My fees for a historical talk at a live event are £100.
Any venue over 30 miles from home will attract travel expenses. Please contact me to discuss costs, especially if the journey may involve an overnight stay.
My fees for a zoom talk are £75.
My fees for a cancer talk are £75 either live (with a travel cost as above) or zoom. All fees for cancer talks, except travel expenses, are paid directly to the charity Prostate Cancer UK.

Ripple in Still Water or Cancer you are Messing With My Head!

Public Speaker in Kent, Simon Waterfield presents his talk on Ripple in Still Water or Cancer you are Messing With My Head!

After three brushes with cancer, I put my thoughts on paper. This book of short stories is a rambling collection of thoughts and moods put together over the last 3 years.
The book is available in paperback and as an eBook off Amazon.
I am now taking these stories on the road.
I have taken my book to The Brighton Fringe Festival, The Wandsworth Fringe Festival, the Ludlow Fringe Festival in 2021.
The show will consist of me reading some of my stories and looking to engage with the audiences on how cancer affects the mind and emotions and how to manage the fear and uncertainty it brings, and to let you know they are not alone in having these feelings.
I want to increase awareness of all cancers and in particular the mental issues that surround it.
I hope to engage with audiences of both sexes.
This is not prostate cancer specific.
All fees except travelling expenses go to cancer charities.

I hope to engage with audiences of both sexes.
